Personality

  • Compassionate: Bay Boi has a huge heart, he hates to see others suffering. He is very understanding, and is always willing to listen.

  • Arrogant: While he has compassion for others, he is also rather full of himself. He believes that, no matter his age, he can outshow anyone out there. He was raised to be the best, and he wont accept anything but.

  • Fearless: Part of what makes Bay Boi such a skilled cross country jumper is his lack of fear. No matter what the jump looks like, he will charge at it and throw himself over it. This has resulted in many injuries through the years, but he is always determined to get right back to it.

Likes

  • Winning, jumping, advising younger horses, training, throwing himself into his work

Dislikes

  • Being left in a stall for long periods of time, losing, the thought that someone out there may be better than him.

//H i s t o r y . . .

Bay Boi grew up in the Colorado wilderness. He had just started his life as a bachelor stallion when he met the love of his life. The beautiful mare wound up carrying his foal and he was as happy as could be. He was scouting for water one day when he heard a noise that nearly brought him to his knees... the screaming of his beloved. Her squeals made his blood run cold, and he ran faster than he'd ever run before. As he neared her, he saw his heavily pregnant mate trying her best to outrun a pack of wild dogs. She was fast approaching the outlying fences of a large cattle ranch, its fences forming a barricade. He was quickly closing the distance between himself and her, and for a moment, he thought he was going to make it. But she had reached the fence. He shouted at her to jump, but she was afraid of the looming wooden posts. She slid to the side and tried to turn, but in that moment, the dogs caught up to her. He watched as they tore his beloved's throat out, heard her horrible screams. By the time he got to her, it was too late, she was gone. He saw a faint movement inside of her, their unborn child, but soon, it too stilled. In a rage, Bay Boi wheeled on the dogs. He killed each and every one of them. He laid beside her that night, his head resting on her withers. He couldn't sleep. He wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink. He wouldn't leave her side. He had never felt such pain in his young life. As morning began to break, and the cattle ranchers began making their rounds. They spotted the scene and one of them mounted their own horse and got their lasso ready. They tossed it at Bay Boi, who put up no fight. That is, until they tried to move him. As soon as he felt the tugging at the rope, he went into a frenzy. He was not about to leave her. But before long, more ranchers arrived to aid their coworker and they managed to drag him to the ground and away from her. A couple other ranchhands came out and began tying ropes and chains around his beloved before beginning to drag her away to bury her. His squeals were deafening as he kept fighting to get nearer to her, to go wherever they were taking her and their child. But the ropes wouldn't give way.

After a time, he was auctioned off to Chaotic Stables, who thought he would make an excellent stud. They put him out in the pasture to graze, but he had other ideas. He had decided that fear was not an option. It was the fear of jumping that had killed his beloved. So he pushed fear from his mind and careened towards the fence, throwing himself over it. Err... well... into it anyways. He managed to get some pretty nasty gnashes in his legs, and was kept on stall arrest for awhile afterwards. That was when the staff thought that they should try him as a jumper. Before long, he was soaring over obstacles. Every time he jumped successfully, he felt his beloved beside him again. Felt her warmth, felt her happiness. It was all he could do to keep from going out of his mind with grief.
